What it Means to be a Member When you complete a membership agreement, deposit $5 to your “share account” and your membership is approved by the Board of Directors, you become a member - a part owner of the credit union and have the right to share in its success. Manitobans have long been strong supporters of credit unions, having recognized that credit unions provide a secure, democratically controlled and community minded financial alternative. Mid-March 2010, membership in Manitoba credit unions surpassed 566,000. Total assets held by Manitoba credit unions now exceed $15 billion. Unlike other financial institutions, credit unions address themselves completely to the needs of their members and the communities in which they operate. Call us old fashioned, but we think personal service is important. Credit unions offer members excellent in-branch service, leading edge electronic services, a full range of financial products and excellent loan and deposit rates. As a member you are encouraged to attend the annual general meeting of the Winnipeg Police Credit Union, which is usually held in November each year. The annual meeting is your chance to express your views on the operation and direction of your credit union. Members also have the opportunity to run for election to the Board of Directors. Credit unions pride themselves in being the only financial institution that service the needs of their owner/members. When you entrust your money to a financial institution, you need to know it’s safe. While customers of other institutions are offered limited deposit guarantees, credit union members know that ALL of their money is safe! That’s because the Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation guarantees all deposits with a Manitoba credit union without limit. It makes dollars and sense to build your financial future with the Winnipeg Police Credit Union. If you have questions please feel free to call 204.944.1033 or email info@policecu.mb.ca
